Three upcoming events…

1.

Volunteers Needed at Orangegate Park

Please join us (SWCA members) for Parks Appreciation Day at Orangegate Park on Saturday, April 23, 2016, 9am-Noon.

Please meet at 46th Ave E. and 84th St E. across from Tacoma Power’s Cowlitz Substation. The Orangegate Property (Park) located in the Summit-Waller Community is a 160-acre county owned property. We need help clearing trails, removing litter and invasive Scotch Broom & English Ivy.

Volunteers are encouraged to carpool to the site if possible. There is no need to pre-register. Just simply show up, check in with the site leader; Larry Volland to start working. Come prepared with work gloves, appropriate clothing, work boots/shoes and trimmers. Please bring additional items such as rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows & other yard tools, as this is a big project and may be needed. We will cut, pull, plant and haul during the three-hour time frame. Bottled water and trash bags will be provided.

  • Pick up your free door-prize ticket at the sign-in table, the raffle will be held at the end of the meeting.
  • If you live in the Mid-County area and vote, you just have to be at this meeting.

Waller Road Adopt-A-Road Clean-Up

Please join other SWCA volunteers by picking up litter along Waller Road from SR-512 to Pioneer Way East.  Our annual Spring clean-up will be Saturday, May 21, 2016, 9am to Noon.    Also, our Fall Clean-up date will be Saturday, August 20, 2016, 9am to noon.  Please mark your calendars.   Please meet with SWCA coordinator John Goodspeed at 9925 Waller Road East to sign in and choose a stretch of Waller Road to clean. Litter bags, safety equipment and bottled water will be provided.  Please bring work gloves and wear study shoes for your comfort and safety.  Please dress appropriately.   Many hands make for light work.  Let’s all help make the Summit-Waller Community litter free.
